You understand why but the reaction keeps happening anyway.

You know the patterns and where they came from. But understanding hasn't stopped the reactions from taking over. EMDR therapy along with parts work reaches what's underneath, so it can resolve for good.

You’re here because knowing hasn’t been enough

Maybe you know a certain behavior from a loved one will activate a part of you that feels like a little girl or a teenager, but for the life of you, you can't stop it from happening.

Or you have a long fuse and then you blow, because you've been stuffing things down for so long.

Perhaps you're the caregiver, the people-pleaser, the one who has a hard time advocating for herself, and you're tired of watching yourself do it again.

I’m guessing…

You're intelligent.

You're empathic, maybe even intuitive.

You feel other people's emotions as deeply as your own, and you have a hard time knowing where yours end and theirs begin.

You've tried to think your way up and over and through and around it but that hasn't worked.

You’re Probably Ready If…

You've been to therapy before.

You understand your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.

You can describe your childhood and name how it shaped you.

You've read the books. You know the patterns.

What happens when you do this work

You're still empathic. You still care deeply about the people in your life. But the part of you that used to take over when someone pushed a certain button stops running the show.

You don't become a different person.

But you stop losing yourself in them. You can hold your own needs alongside someone else's without one of you disappearing. You can say no without the guilt that used to follow you for days. When conflict happens, you don't collapse or blow up. You stay.

The relationships don't always get easier.

You feel the activation, but you stay present. You can choose a different response. Not because you're trying harder but because the younger part who was carrying that weight isn't carrying it anymore.

You notice when the old pattern kicks in.

You're not broken. It's about healing the childhood re-enactments so your adult self can stay in the room when the old stuff gets activated. The patterns lose their grip. You get to decide what comes next.

This isn't about fixing you.

HOW WE WORK TOGETHER

There’s no fixed protocol

The format is tailored to what you need, when you need it.

Sometimes that’s a standard weekly hour, especially early on, when we’re mapping the territory and finding the patterns underneath the present-day moments that keep tripping you up. We explore:

  • What earlier experience is this a repetition of?

  • Which part of you is running the show when your adult self recedes?

Sometimes the work before processing is helping you recover the original experience from the way you’ve flattened it.

You’ve normalized it, explained it away, said your parents did the best they could.

I’m the one who says, gently, I don’t think a five-year-old would have experienced that as not-that-bad. We have to find the thread before we can process it.

Our Options

The regular hour. Often where we start, mapping patterns and finding the thread before there’s anything to process.

Hourly Sessions

For processing a memory with EMDR. The standard 50-minute hour is too short; the brain needs room to finish what it starts. These sessions are between 90 minutes and 2 hours.

Extended Sessions

For harder material or concentrated focus. A full processing block in-person, without the start-stop of weekly appointments.

Intensive Sessions

Hi. I’m Kristen.

A little about me…

I came to this work as a client first. I spent a decade in corporate finance before leaving that world to manage a yoga studio, which turned into a chapter of deep self-discovery through yoga, meditation, and intensive personal work. I started weekly therapy during that time, and when I encountered EMDR as a client, something shifted that years of talking hadn’t touched.

That’s what sent me back to graduate school for a master’s in marriage and family therapy. My first training out of grad school was EMDR. I became EMDRIA Certified and then an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in 2021.

I tell you that not as a credential story, but as context. I’ve been on the other side of the chair. I know what it’s like to be the woman who’s done everything right and is still caught in patterns she can name but can’t stop. I know what it feels like when understanding isn’t enough.

The way I work is grounded and pragmatic. I’m a guide, not a healer. I stand next to you while you explore the darker corners. I bring a flashlight and a general knowledge of the terrain, but I trust you know the details. I don’t drag. I point and ask.

I’m transparent about process. If you want to know why I asked a question, I’ll tell you. I have a sense of humor, and I’ll tear up when I’m moved. My goal for all of my clients is you heal and move on with me as someone in your rearview mirror who hopefully altered your path for the better.
